A Brief History of West Sacramento

West Sacramento traces its history back to the mid-19th century. At that time, it was called “Washington.” The population of the area grew at such a rapid rate starting with the California Gold Rush. Many people went here, thinking that they would find some sort of luck and opportunity.

West Sacramento grew as an agricultural community over the years. It became a developing city. Today, besides being a residential and business area, the place has space for recreation.
